Xmas Sales - 4th Of December, London!

Hi all,

We've had a killer year since we started trading in May, and would love to give something back to you all. Now since we don't own a shop…yet, we need a suitable location....

However, on Sunday the 4th Of December, we'll be holding a meet & greet in London where we'll have plenty of stock for sale including brands & goods we don't have on the website yet.

Thanks to our long standing friends at Dangerous Decks, we'll have our 1st ever Xmas sale in Forest Hill, London.
This will run from 11am to 5pm

The address is:
Unit 15
Forest Hill Business Centre, 2 Clyde Vale,
Forest Hill,
London SE23 3JF
& is easily reached by Train from both London Victoria, London Bridge, Clapham Junction.
Click here for the Google Map of the location

We can accept cash on the day, but payments via Paypal are also welcome if you can use your smartphone/tablet too.

What better way to pick up some gifts for Xmas than by hand, saving on delivery costs & potentially lost in post items during the most busy time of the year.

Jamie slide puck black ice palm

This guy Jamie, does it all! He designs his own decks, makes his own slide pucks, gloves and organises events (cpp slide comp 2011, brand ash).

I wanted to give a quick review on his slide puck black ice palm: Diameter: 80mm Thickness: 16mm Genuine Velcro TM (Hook)

The quality blew me away, super smooth with minimum friction, fast slide, very quiet and last forever. This is all you need for a night session in a private residential street.

Jamie gave me these pucks 4 months ago and since then I have been out almost everyday (freeriding, Dh and slide tech) when I have a chance on my break, knk ,southend slide comp, ccp slide comp, session with the sl research division, southend longboard and with family. So after a great summer skate they are not even half the size.

Jamie is a very friendly guy and passionate about the longboard community and we are very proud to have him in the N’s team. Thank you

NS Road Trip: Gioasteka Freeride Sound Of Speed 2011!

The weekend has landed! Oh wait, no it didn't.
But the video for Gioasteka has:

I can honestly say, it's in my top 2 downhill events of all time & this being the 2nd year I've attended I can't wait to go back.
Hmmm, Smoothcut37's just dreamy for Downhill, DOH! ;)

This weekend, make sure to check out Hogtoberfest!

Two mates, two skateboards, one mountain = fun

Here's a little cut I spliced together from a run I did with Marcin down part of Bear's Guts & the KNK Freeride earlier this year, put on by Longboard Magazin in Slovenia.

It's a fun track with loads of hairpins, a funny tarmac that grips in a way I've not felt any others before.
To top it of the days were hot & the last runs where you were almost blinded heading into left handers were some of the best, if not just for the view.

Watch in fullscreen & 720p if you can:

Look forward to going back to Slovenia, freeride or not, the people are great & so are the mountains, just don't go off any corners eh ;)

Marcin rides: Dangerous Decks Repeat Offender, Aera Trucks, DTC Wheels
Alex rides: Kebbek Smoothcut37, Magun/Cindrich Trucks, Abec11 Wheels, Venom Bushings

Jamie's Puck

 french Butter !!

Never thought i would love those pucks so much!
Very smooth and fast when sliding.
Good for Dh and quick tech slide.

Not like other pucks, they will not stick to the pavement they will slide like butter.
have been testing them for few months now and i have not started to wear them down.

Jamie is not only Newton's Shred Team rider (hard wheels division)he has a lot of great invention under his red beard.

New Kebbeks added to the line up!

My my,
it was only 2010 when I met John tearing it up at Almabtrieb & just over a year later he's got his own model on Kebbek after finding the Erwin a tad too large for him, he's not the biggest of guys!

We've also added the Niko Desmarais pro model to our catalogue also, hailing from the same mould as the Barnet, it sports minor inflection on the tail where the Barnet's kicks usually start.
Kami describes this as a Nemesis & an Elise cross breed, can't say he's half wrong!
Niko recently took 5th place at the Winsport Canada Cup, which was viewed by thousands of people worldwide thanks to an online broadcast.

It's all those little things....

So we were a bit limited in the bits & pieces we ordered originally so we took the liberty of correcting that & filled out some more options for you when setting up your ride.

Rise up:
Apart from the .016" risers we originally had, we've now brought in .062" (1.5mm), 1/8th" (3mm) & 3/16th" (5mm) risers too.

Cup, Screw & Roll:
We've got some cupped bushing washers in finally! Ideal for helping limit turn on topmounts prone to wheelbite & avoiding over steer in downhill situations.
While we had loose kingpins we didn't have any nuts, doh, now sorted, sold by the piece.
Last but not least, Biltin bearings, getting a hold of these when we ordered from Abec11 was impossible as they were sold out! But thanks to some more production runs we have a handful in stock, best bearings I've ever ridden, the sole reason I'll never bother with 10mm axles trucks is that I can't ride Biltins on them, hahaha.

Not so little things:
We have a couple of completes on the site already with more to come, check out the Bustin Maestro freestyle/freeride setup & a Rayne Nemesis downhill freeride ripper!

It's all kicking off!!!!

Kebbek Max Erwin 2011 & Isaac's Test hill, London

Phew, had a blast filming this but I was knackered walking back up afterwards!
the Max Erwin's a great board for freeriding & speed, I'll get a video review up in the next few days if I can.
Can't give the peeps at Kebbek enough props for putting this much effort into all their boards.

You can find it on our site here & if you're after a complete shoot us a message on facebook or via e-mail (enquiries (at) newtons-shred.co.uk)

Kebbek 2011 range arrives.... like over a month ago, whopps!

So there we were, sitting on our yacht twiddling our thumbs when the Butler called up on the satelite phone & said a delivery had turned up, I was like, "sweet"

After a few delays with UPS we'd finally gotten a hold of our Kebbek 2011 order that we'd placed MONTHS ago, but I can say it's worth the wait for sure, admittedly getting this blog post up has been hella slow too!

Click here to view our entire Kebbek Range

The only boards we didn't get were the Comishin & Kootenay, all other models (available to order at the time) we now have in stock & we have placed an order for John Barnet & Niko models also.

Noteworthy this year:

28" Wheelbase options from stock on the Switchback (28-29.5"), Rookie (28-30.5") & Smoothcut37 (28")

Revenger redesign!
Now 30" stock wheelbase & shorter length.

Underflush changes
Erwin now has no underflush, Daddow has 1 ply less underflushed than 2010 model.

Still Awesome!
The Hairpin & JimZ are still the same specs, but with some sicker graphics this year!

Limited stock on previous models
Stock on these boards is very limited, we have 15th Anniversay 2007-08 Revenger, with the 32" wheelbase, Ideal for those coming from a lowered board with a larger wheelbase to get used to topmounts on. We also have a couple of 2010 JimZ left as well, same as the 2011 model except for the grapic & a cheaper price ;)

We're proud to stock Kebbek boards, after having been riding them for nearly 3 years I know pretty much each model fairly well having spent time on them or similar mould options, we can do completes to your exact taste, or if you keep your eyes open we'll have some preconfigured ones on the site ready to go.

Keep up the great work Kebbek, 2010 was great to see them back on manufacturing form & the 2011 model graphics are absolutely amazing.

The site goes live!

http://www.newtons-shred.co.uk/ is now & up running & accepting your orders, there's a catch though, if you're attending this weekend's Hog Hill event you'll have first dibs on our stock to order as it's the only delivery option.
As of next week we'll roll out Royal Mail so the rest of the UK can get access to the goods.
Check out the site, we do all bushings as single units & can do the same for most wheels we stock, we know it sucks to flatspot one wheel & chew up single bushing with kingpins so now you can buy pretty much just what you need.

Enjoy

Newton's Shred, who are we?

Hey there,

so you've come across our blog or shop & you're wondering, who are these people?

Well, just thought we'd fill you in on that, last thing we'd want you thinking is that we're just some faceless entity drop shipping all our stock from the moon & never dealing with any items or orders ourselves.

Behind Newton's Shred there are 3 key players running the show:

Left to Right: Gael (a.k.a Kami San), Mark , Alex (a.k.a Anjo K)

Between us there's many years of skateboarding experience as well as online retail too, our aim is to sort you out with a variety of stock you might not find elsewhere in the UK as well as consistently decent customer service & reasonable prices.

We're not just about selling you kit though, I've (Alex) been organizing sessions for quite a while as well introducing the formal DH event at Hog Hill in may last year (btw, make sure you hit up Open Season at Hog Hill in june!) & it's something we'd be doing anyway even if we weren't retailing!

So while we're setting up the backend to give you a smooth online shop check out our blog, or feel free to fire us a question in the comments.

We hope you'll like what we've got to offer & with any luck we'll be skating down a hill or pushing through thick traffic with you at some point soon.

Alex, on behalf on Newton's Shred
